EXPLORER PROGRAM

The Archbold Fire Department is excited to announce our new program dedicated to our community’s youth. The program is geared towards Archbold and German Township youth, however, those who live outside the limits won't be turned away.

The Explorer Program was created in 2022 to provide school age students with the skills and experiences of Firefighting as well as the Emergency Medical Services. This program is open to all kids aged 14-21 who wish to gain valuable career experience and training to set them apart from their peers.

The Fire Explorer participants will meet twice a month in a classroom setting at 6:30 pm every 1st and 3rd Thursday. During these meetings, they conduct trainings as an individual group and every Monday night at 7 pm they are welcome to train with the Archbold Fire Department members. Additionally, Explorers have the opportunity to get "ride time" by shadowing the Archbold Fire Department Duty Crew for the day. We encouraged explorers to participate in a minimum of monthly two-hour ride-along. This allows them to get a real world look at how a fire department operates during a typical shift. The training and hands on experience that they receive is invaluable as they go on to apply for jobs in their future.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a part of the Explorer program should call the Archbold Fire Department at 419-445-9506 for more information.
